Five top ski regions in Austria
Situated approx. 40 minutes by car from the Mozart town of Salzburg, the Salzburger Sportwelt is considered to be one of the most dynamic ski regions in the alps. Many Austrian skiing greats such as Annemarie Moser-Pröll and Hermann Maier come from this “Region of Champions”. Flachau-Wagrain-St.Johann, Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl and Radstadt-Altenmarkt offer an ultra-modern skiing circuit. A further attraction is provided by the pistes of Filzmoos, Eben and Goldegg.
In the Schladming-Dachstein Tauern region, the “Schladminger 4-Berge-Schaukel” (Schladming 4 Mountain Ski Circuit) connects the four largest ski mountains in Styria – from Hauser Kaibling to the Planai and Hochwurzen through to Reiteralm. Additionally enticing are the family ski regions of Galsterbergalm, Fageralm, Stoderzinken, Ramsau, and the Dachstein glacier with its all-year-round skiing area.
Gastein offers a unique combination of ski and spa. The ski fan has access to fantastic opportunities, which reach right up to higher alpine regions and to Sportgastein, where snow is assured.
Set against the majestic backdrop of the Hochkönig, the Hochkönig’s Winterreich promises relaxed skiing between the ski areas of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach.
