World alpine skiing championships 2013 in Schladming

Since 2003, the Wintersportverein Schladming, which celebrates its 100-year anniversary this year, has striven to bring the Alpine SKI WM to the well-known winter ski location once more after 1982. “Good things come in threes” – and so things turned out to Schladming’s advantage on the third try.

The decision

All of Schladming and the surrounding area anticipated the decision of the FIS Delegation in Cape Town on 29 May 2008. When Gian-Franco Kasper announced the result: „The FIS Alpine Ski World Championships will be held in Schladming!“ the organisational team, the citizens of Schladming, and Schladming’s many supporters felt a weight lift from their minds.
This decision assigned the entire region of Schladming-Dachstein a special task.
The preparations for the 2013 WM are already underway. Conferences, meetings, plans... Schladming-Dachstein will be ready.

FIS Weltcp Men Nightrace Slalom in Schladming 24.01.2012

On the 24th January 2014 one of the biggest party in the alps is celebrated around the nightrace and the ski stars try to follow last years winner.
More than 45,000 fanatics comes every year on the pilgrimage to Schladming’s Planai to see their stars.
