Chalet Wallner with its 7 bedrooms (plus 2 bunk beds and a sofa bed in 2nd living room) and 5 bathrooms is ideal for a multi-family holiday experience, a large group of friends, a single family or small group wanting lots of personal space. The chalet is perfectly located, 300m from the ski-lift (Schlossalmbahn) and bus station in one direction, the pretty town centre with its supermarkets, artisan bakeries, bars and restaurants in the opposite direction and the Alpentherme (thermal health spa and swimming complex) in another direction. Wonderful Gasteinertal - year round activity.

Bad Hofgastein is in the most attractive Gastein valley with extensive activities available all year round, skiing - alpine and cross-country are of course the major winter sports, and across the rest of the year there is a vast amount of trails to walk, also running trails and mountain bike trails. You can also hire e-bikes and explore the valley along the quite roads and dedicated cycle routes.

Of course the Schlossalmbahn runs most of the year to take you up to join the higher walks or you can walk up if you're feeling more energetic.

The Gastein Ache river runs right past the property, join the path over the bridge and you can follow the river down to Dorfgastein or up past the natural bathing lake to Bad Gastein where you will find a truly magnificent waterfall.

The property is adjacent to a park with several clay tennis courts and mini-golf. There is also a golf course between Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein. The town of Bad Hofgastein has a thermal spa complex with indoor and outdoor water parks and relaxation areas.

There are many interesting shops but also two supermarkets MPreis and Billa, and several excellent bakeries. On the outskirts of town there is a dm, a larger Billa and MPreis as well as a Hofer (Aldi) and a Spar. In Bad Gastein there is a very large Eurospar which is great for those bigger shopping trips.

Within 30 minutes drive is Zell-am-See, Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Also the Leichtensteinklamm makes for an impressive gorge walk with waterfalls and fast flowing river, all visible from the safety of the specially constructed walkways and viewing platforms.

Further afield is the cultural city of Salzburg with its river and castle (most impressive in autumn when the leaves are turning), also Berchtesgaden National Park (Germany) where you can take a boat trip on Königsee, and visit the "Eagle's Nest".

In the other direction at the end of the valley you can take a train (with your car, bike, or on foot) from Böckstein, through the tunnel to Carinthia and the next valley south in the direction of Villach, the route to Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and more.
