An outstanding day of adventure: Ski amadé - Made my Day!

Friday, 6.30am, and the alarm went off. I admit, initially I wanted to turn over and carry on sleeping. However then I remembered why I had set this early morning alarm: an experience day in Ski amadé - Made my Day! To be more exact a “Link to Heaven Day“ – in the truest sense of the word.

We met in semi-darkness at 7.20am at the bottom station of the Grafenberggondel in Wagrain. There we met our guide for the day from the Ski & Snowboard School Wagrain - Charly Moser. Charly is, so to say, a local of Wagrain and told us funny stories and gave us some insider information about the Ski amadé ski region throughout the day.

A little while later, the next WOW moment was awaiting us! At about 7.30am, after we had taken the lift up, we got into the G-Link where we saw our breakfast table, which would certainly make all breakfast fans hearts beat a little faster. If you know the G-Link from its day to day running and when sharing it with 130 other ski fans, then you will be well aware of the exclusivity of this breakfast. We sat down on the fur-covered chairs and toasted our day with a glass of sparkling wine. The gondola floated seamlessly over the valley with fitting background music, to Grießenkareck and back again. It is probably obvious to say that the homemade jams and fresh rolls and the ample selection of hams, sausages and cheeses tasted amazing at 232 metres over the valley.

About half an hour later, we arrived back at the Grafenberg with full stomachs and took the chairlift to the very top. Once again it was evident that it had been so worthwhile to get up early: we had the whole slope to ourselves for the first run down, with a few centimetres of fresh snow on top. The lifts only opened to everyone else at 8.30am.

Subsequently, the next highlight was waiting for us: The sports photographer Selina Flasch took professional photos of us – just how we wanted them! We were sent the photos in a wooden box including a usb stick. I am already looking forward to holding the memories of this day in my hands.

Then we stopped off at the massage drive-in, also at the top station of the Grafenberg. The three masseuses really got to work on us, in spite of the thick ski clothing and we were so impressed! The Massage Drive-in is available there every Friday from 09.00-16.00 and is free of charge.

Then, for the next few hours, Charly guided us through the ski resort over to Alpendorf. He also gave us a few valuable tips to help us improve our style. This was very exciting for me personally, as my last ski lesson was quite a few years ago.

For lunch we stopped at Restaurant Almonte at the bottom station of the Flying Mozart gondola. The food was excellent! Especially the puddle chocolate cake. Completely happy and full to the brim with wonderful food and unbelievable impressions, we clicked into our skis once again and wound down the day.

I know that I cannot stop gushing, but for me it really was an unbelievable ski day in my hometown. So if you are on the look out for an exceptional gift for a milestone birthday or you want to round off your holiday with a very special kind of experience, then I cannot recommend this enough, a Ski amadé – Made my Day experience day!
