Perfect conditions for a snowshoe hike after an eventful ski day in the wondrous world of Ski amadé! 

The route network branching out in all directions at the five regions lets you enter a breathtaking alpine setting that will have you in awe. What an amazing alternative to skiing or snowboarding! With snowshoes strapped to your feet, you’ll head out into the powder snow. Because once you’ve put them on, there’s no holding back in the snow! Time to explore the mountains of Styria and the Salzburger Land region step by step.

Your snowshoe experience in ski amadé

Brain: off; fresh air: in! That’s one of best experiences when ambitious snowshoe hikers wade through pristine natural landscapes. It’s the perfect sport to clear your head and fill your lungs with fresh mountain air. 

A total of five regions can be explored on foot: from the Salzburger Sportwelt to Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, the Hochkönig and Grossarl Valley. And at every resort, beautiful snowshoe routes await winter sports enthusiasts. 

On the Loosbühelalm  in Grossarl at 1,769 metres above sea level, in Filzmoos, in Flachau or in Gastein: The snowshoe routes are accessible for everyone. You don’t have the right equipment at hand? There are sports rentals  at every village where you can rent your snowshoes.

The most beautiful snowshoe routes …

… await you in the Salzburger Sportwelt: Ten routes have snowshoe hikers flocking to the beautiful Salzburger Land region every year. As a participant of a guided tour or on your own: Walking through the powder snow is an absolute highlight either way.

… await you in Schladming-Dachstein: In the Untertal, in the Obertal or towards the Rossfeld: You can hike over the glistening snow cover on the routes along the toboggan runs or cross-country. Your constant companions: the sun and a smile on your face. 

… await you in Gastein: 18 different routes with a total of 60 kilometres: From the Elisabeth Promenade to the mountain station on the Stubnerkogel and the snowshoe trail in Dorfgastein, you can choose from a number of exciting options. 

… await you in the Hochkönig region: The educational snowshoe trail leads winter hikers through a winter wonderland on the Hochkönig – accompanied by a guide. 

… await you in Grossarltal: Equipped with snowshoes and poles, you’ll be hiking past snow-covered trees, bizarre looking rock formations, and you just might see a deer. Tip: Keep your eyes peeled during your hike through nature! 

Culinary joys at the mountain restaurants and huts

Snowshoeing is an adventure in nature, and it’s great for your body too.

However, it’ll also make you expend a lot of energy. How convenient that the countless hosts at the huts of Ski amadé are serving their guests delicious hearty meals. From a rustic Styrian Brettljause (cold cuts and cheese served on a wooden board) to a warming soup, there’s lots to choose from. Just plop down at a table and let the hosts treat you to their specialities!

Embedded in the majestic scenery of the mountains of the Hochkönig and surrounded by 120 kilometers of slopes lies the enchanting Karbachalm. With a family atmosphere, and a personal and friendly table service, you can experience the hospitality of the region at different heights. Tradition and modernity are combined to create a sense of well-being at this natural Alm, which invites you to drop everything and relax.

Ski & wine enjoyment week from the 14th to 21st of March 2020

  • Daily from the 14th to 21st of March: Italy meets the Alps. From the Hochkönig to the Adriatic Sea. Delightful trip from the Hochkönig to the Adriatic Sea with several stops along the way. Accompanied by wines from Austria and Italy.
     
  • 19th of March Hochkönig wine gondolas
    Another highlight, on the subject of skiing and wine, will take place in Mühlbach am Hochkönig on 19-03-2020, as part of the ski and wine enjoyment weeks. The Hochkönig wine gondolas. It's all in the name because whilst going up in the 8-seater Kings Cab gondola, you can taste and enjoy a variety of wines from over 15 vineyards and winemakers. The exceptional ambience, the view of the Hochkönig and the excellent wines will make this day unforgettable.
     
  • 22nd of March: Traditional music 'huttenrally'
    THE music and tradition combination that touches your heart! The traditional music 'huttenrally' has become a tradition that we can not imagine doing without. In addition to absolute skiing enjoyment on 120 kilometres of slopes and the sounds of real traditional music, the culinary delights at the highest farmers market in the Alps will also not disappoint. Local farmers sell their products directly at the market stalls at the ski huts. The ski huts play real traditional music, live and unplugged, and the additional program on and off the slopes will also be worth a visit. At the sight of the skiers, you will feel transported to 'back in the day', the sounds of alpine horns and musicians on the slopes will give us a nostalgic feeling.

Kröllalm

A comfortable rest belongs to skiing, ideal at the Kröllalm. Whether in the office at the tiled stove or on the beautiful sun terrace with stunning views over the Saalfelden basin, you will feel at home. We serve specialties from our own farm, as well as mushrooms from the local forests. Also apple and cheese strudel are homemade.

The Laireiter Alm is located at 1,850 m directly next to the Grossarltal panorama station. It offers space for 300 to 350 people in the interior. When the weather is fine, up to 500 people can enjoy the sun on our spacious terrace.
