Back2Ski - Old love never dies

Four years ago, I became a mum for the second time and my skis have been in the cellar ever since. But now that my little one is making her first attempts at skiing, I feel the urge to get back on the piste. Maybe you feel the same way? In this article, I share tips for getting back into skiing after a long break. From equipment checks to professional guidance, you'll learn how to approach this journey with anticipation, preparation and a positive attitude. It's never too late to rediscover the fascination of the ski sport!

Take care of your equipment first. If it has not been used for some time, it is advisable to check it before your first outing. Bindings, poles, ski boots and skis should be checked for functionality and serviced. You can also consider returning to the piste with new equipment.

But don't stress, you don't have to buy everything new straight away. Nowadays there are many good hire offers, including for clothing. This allows you to save resources and to be right on trend. I've already written about this in detail in the Rent a Ski blog post.

Next, think about whether you want to venture back on your own or perhaps treat yourself to a few lessons with professional instruction. This can improve your technique and at the same time you can get the latest tips for safe skiing. Experienced ski instructors will support you on your return, help you to overcome your fears and boost your confidence so that you can enjoy skiing again. You will also find a great offer from Ski amadé.

Back2Ski
this offer is aimed at all those who wish to revitalise their enthusiasm for winter sports. It gives you the opportunity to refresh your knowledge and rediscover old skills. In January and March 2024, you have the opportunity to book a private instructor for two days, who will get you back on the slopes with a programme specially tailored to your needs. This way, you won't have to struggle alone and will be able to build on your past successes more quickly. You can find all participating ski schools via Back2Ski, where you can book the package directly.

Your body may also have lost some of its flexibility and strength recently. You can prepare yourself for the upcoming exertion with stretching, light cardio and strengthening exercises to minimise the risk of injury. Here are two blog posts with good exercises to get you fit for your first day of skiing: Warm up before the season starts! and Stretching & Mobilising.

Overall, getting back into skiing is a journey that should be approached with a little preparation, patience and a positive attitude. After all, it's never too late to put your skis back on and rediscover and experience the fascination of this sport. Returning to the piste is not only a beneficial physical activity, but also a journey into one's own past that holds a lot of joy, self-challenge and positive memories.
