The Filzmoos cattle drive is one of the highlights of the Salzburg Harvest Festival and attracts numerous visitors every year. The festival starts at 11.30 am on the village square with musical entertainment.
The magnificently decorated animals reach the village centre at around 13:00. The cows, which have spent the summer on the mountain pastures, are adorned with wreaths, branches and colourful ribbons for this special occasion - a tradition known as ‘Aufkranzen’. They are accompanied by teams of horses and small animals, making the Almabtrieb a colourful spectacle.
Admission to the Almabtrieb is € 3.00; children and adults with the Filzmoos Guest Card have free admission.
