In 1752 the Schargetter family acquired the property including the farm, and this is still in the family’s possession today. Dine like royalty. The late Gothic, typical Salzburg stately home dates back to 1554 and goes back to the days of gold and silver mining. Today the house is open to guests as a café-restaurant. The chapel in the house is excellently suited for small weddings and baptisms.

In winter, when the cold mountain air of the Schladminger Tauern whips across your face outside, the smell of homemade Kaiserschmarren wafting over from the Schafalm lures you inside the cozy hut. The friendly staff there do their part to guarantee a perfect break before your next run down the Planai. In the winter months, the Schafalm is also home to a number of woolly four-legged creatures, "Valais blacknose sheep" who spend the winter in the adjacent barn (which you are also invited to peek inside), before returning to the lush green alpine meadows of the Planai in summer.
