Every year on March 17th the traditional Gertraudimarkt takes place in Altenmarkt. It is one of the largest and most colorful markets in the country. Since the tradition was revived in the 1990s, over 200 market stalls have been offering goods of all kinds on the upper and lower market streets. A very special highlight is the horse exhibition in the Dechantshoftenne.
