The Radstadt-Altenmarkt ski area is one of the most family-friendly resorts in the 12 Peaks Ski Region within Ski amadé. Wide, perfectly groomed runs and a wide range of activities both on and off the slopes make this ski area an insider’s tip for families, ski clubs and enjoyers of the sport.

Another bonus is how easy it is to get there: from the city of Salzburg, the valley stations of the 8-seater Hochbifangbahn in Altenmarkt and the 10-seater Koenigslehenbahn in Radstadt can be reached in under an hour. So there’s always time for a few runs!

Skiing & snowboarding in the Radstadt-Altenmarkt ski area

Perfectly groomed slopes, plenty of space for carving and snowboarding, and a wide range of fun activities: the Radstadt-Altenmarkt ski area is an insider’s tip for families, for young and for new skiers.

With a total of 18 kilometres of slopes and seven lifts, this compact ski area offers plenty of variety and space for those taking their first turns, as well as pure carving enjoyment. The main lift systems converge at Kemahdhoehe – a central meeting point right in the heart of the ski area between Radstadt and Altenmarkt, which is ideal for families and groups.

  • Quick and easy arrival via the A10 Tauern motorway or public transport.
  • Wide slopes (red, blue, black) for beginners, skiing enthusiasts and carving fans.
  • Ski & Fun: The Koenigslehen Funslope, the Skimovie race track on the family run and the Koenigslehen Beginner Park form the ideal playground to show off your skills and practise your first jumps.
  • In the Fichtelland Kids’ Park by the Hochbifangbahn, adventures await the little ones in the Fichtel Forest (a ski trail through a wooded area). First turns can be practised on the Kids Run and at the practice lift with its practice slope.
  • Koenigslehen Natural Toboggan Run: A varied tobogganing experience awaits you on the six-kilometre-long toboggan run. Every Tuesday and Friday, the floodlit toboggan run is also open in the evenings from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm. You can reach the start comfortably via the Königslehenbahn.
  • Ski touring: From both Radstadt and Altenmarkt, there is an ascent trail leading up to the Kemahdhöhe, guaranteeing comfort, enjoyment of nature and safety whilst ski touring.
  • Top-class ski schools with highly qualified ski instructors for adults and children are available.
  • Mountain restaurants and ski huts serving freshly cooked regional specialities and a wide range of culinary delights.

Family offers and children's area

The perfectly groomed and spacious slopes of the Radstadt-Altenmarkt ski area offer families with children plenty of space for carefree practice runs. There’s fun and skiing action for everyone on the Koenigslehen Funslope, in the Freestyle Beginner Park and on the Skimovie race track. Children can enjoy magical adventures and practise their first turns in the Fichtelland Kidspark.

In Radstadt-Altenmarkt, you can benefit from particularly affordable rates for family day ski passes and attractive discounts such as the Ski amadé Family Bonus, the Ski amadé Young Family Ticket or the Ski amadé Junior Weekend Bonus. This makes a family day out on the slopes even more enjoyable.

Tobogganing in Radstadt

The longest natural toboggan run in the 12 Peaks Ski Region

The Koenigslehen natural toboggan run in Radstadt is a highlight for the whole family: along the six-kilometre-long run, fast straights, numerous bends and gentle gliding sections guarantee a varied tobogganing experience.

The Koenigslehenbahn cable car takes you to the start of the natural toboggan run, and you can hire toboggans at the valley station of the Koenigslehenbahn. The toboggan run is open daily from 10.00 to 16.30 – and additionally every Tuesday and Friday from 17.30 to 20.30 for evening tobogganing on the floodlit run.

Ski touring on the Kemahdhoehe

Ski touring enthusiasts are in for a real treat: there is a slope ascent track leading up to the Kemahdhoehe from both Radstadt and Altenmarkt, guaranteeing comfort, enjoyment of the natural surroundings and safety whilst ski touring.

During regular piste opening hours, you can use both ascent trails with a valid ski pass. Alternatively, you can purchase a ski touring ticket or get the Ski amadé ALL-IN Piste Touring Card, which allows you to make use of the ski touring facilities throughout Ski amadé all winter long.
