Seven holiday resorts, many ways to experience the mountains

Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben and Filzmoos together form the Salzburger Sportwelt. Each place has its own character, yet you can reach nature quickly everywhere: on blooming alpine meadows, by clear mountain lakes, along scenic trails or right in the middle of a family adventure.

You can reach many mountain highlights especially comfortably with the region’s summer lifts. They take you up into the mountains quickly, safely and in a relaxed way – ideal for families, leisure hikers and anyone who wants to spend more time up on the mountain.

Summer lifts in the Salzburger Sportwelt

The summer lifts make your holiday in the Salzburger Sportwelt especially easy. Without long climbs, you can reach adventure mountains, hiking trails, play stations and panoramic spots directly.

In Wagrain-Kleinarl, Wagrainis Grafenberg awaits you with more than 30 adventure stations and the “Kuhbidu” adventure trail. Here, the mountain becomes a big world of nature and experiences for families. With the Flying Mozart you can comfortably reach the woom bike area at the middle station – a family-friendly bike experience with child-friendly trails, obstacles and drops across 5,900 m².

In St. Johann-Alpendorf, the Geisterberg is one of the special family highlights. Children and adults immerse themselves in four legendary ghost worlds: water, earth, air and fire. If you are looking for even more adventure, discover Drachi’s introductory via ferrata.

In Zauchensee, the Gamskogelbahn takes you directly into the Seekar area. Whether you want to hike, stop for refreshments or take a play break: at the Gamskogelhut, a large children’s playground awaits young mountain fans.

In Filzmoos, the Papagenobahn takes you up into the alpine area on the Rossbrand. There you can enjoy wide views, gentle alpine meadows and the FILZ&MOOR picture-book loop in a special natural paradise.

In Flachau, the mountain lifts Starjet 1 & 2 also take you comfortably to airy heights. In the Grießenkar hiking area, Flori’s adventure trail awaits little explorers and adventurers.

    Hiking and mountain experiences

The alpine pastures, mountains and peaks of the Salzburger Sportwelt are waiting to be explored. Well-marked trails lead through blooming alpine meadows, to rustic huts and up to viewpoints with wide views over the Salzburg mountains.

For families, adventure mountains, themed trails and easy hikes with play and discovery stations are ideal. Those who want to go higher will find more challenging tours, summit trails and real mountain moments with panorama.

Biking, cycling and the Stoneman Taurista

The Salzburger Sportwelt also shows its sporty side on two wheels. Varied cycling routes lead through valleys, over alpine pastures and to scenic spots in the mountains.

A special highlight for ambitious bikers is the Stoneman Taurista. The 147-kilometre route passes glittering mountain lakes, lush alpine pastures and rustic mountain huts. Again and again, you’ll face steep climbs, magnificent views and the satisfying feeling of having earned the next summit victory.

    Tradition & cuisine

The smell of freshly baked bread fills the air, smoked bacon is ready, and fresh cheese waits in the display to be garnished. Regional cuisine and local specialties are just as popular with holiday guests as the fascinating natural landscapes. In the Salzburger Sportwelt, tradition and customs are still alive – both on the plate and at the colourful festivals.

Culinary tip: The Salzburger Bauernherbst brings together everything a true gourmet could wish for. Traditional festivals and regional products, from homemade jam to distilled spirits. 150 farmers from the region and the elite of the award-winning gastronomy create a symbiosis of exceptional cooking art, all with Salzburg authenticity.
