Summer in Maria Alm at Hochkönig

Hochkönig

The holiday resort of Maria Alm is nestled in the midst of the majestic mountains of the Steinernes Meer, the Hochkönig and the Pinzgau grass mountains. Around the highest church tower in the state of Salzburg, tradition and customs are still firmly rooted in village life today, giving the place its very special charm.

Summer holiday in Maria Alm at Hochkönig

In summer, Maria Alm shows its especially versatile side. Hikers, bikers and families will find the best conditions for varied holiday days in the midst of impressive nature. A special highlight for families is Prinzenberg Natrun. With or without the cable car, you can head up to numerous attractions such as the adventure playground, the forest high ropes course, Prince Lake and Europe’s only forest slide park. This creates a mountain experience that delights both young and grown-up guests alike.

Maria Alm is also a perfect starting point for extensive hikes and enjoyable bike experiences in the Hochkönig region. The many tours, themed trails and tracks open up almost endless possibilities. In particular, the Primbach Trails and the Natrun Resi Trail provide varied riding fun in a magnificent mountain setting. With Hundstein at 2,117 metres, bike fans can also look forward to a real highlight, as it is considered Europe’s highest grass-covered mountain that can be ridden by bike.

Anyone who wants to discover even more of the Alpine landscape will find the Abergbahn, open in summer, the ideal starting point for many beautiful hiking options. From there, scenic paths and easygoing tours lead into the surrounding mountain world and make the nature experience around Maria Alm even more varied.

Alongside the impressive nature, the village’s special way of life is shaped above all by its lived culture, clubs and traditions. This is especially noticeable in the summer months at many events and at the weekly village evening in Maria Alm. Music, socialising and genuine customs create a lively atmosphere where guests can experience village life in an authentic way.

The stay is rounded off by a wide selection of charming accommodation. From holiday on a farm to cosy guesthouses and stylish 4-star S hotels, Maria Alm offers the right temporary home for every taste. In this way, the village impressively combines nature, activity, family experiences, tradition and warm hospitality.
