Zauchensee - an extraordinary ski area
Ski stars and freeride hotspot
The Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl ski area offers demanding and varied descents, wide carving slopes, excellent freeride routes including the legendary “East” on the Gamskogel, several tree runs, and a racing history with downhill world champion Michael Walchhofer, who lives here. For more than 40 years, Zauchensee has been a venue for FIS World Cup races. On the Kälberloch run from the Gamskogel, one of the most demanding and spectacular courses in the women’s Ski World Cup, the speed events downhill and super-G are mainly held.
For the young racing talent, Zauchensee offers ideal conditions with the Kogelalm training center, including two closed training runs for slalom or giant slalom.
The ski area is also considered a hotspot for freeriders. In addition to the famous “East” variant from the Gamskogel, numerous powder descents on untouched slopes await. The best way to find them is together with local guides from our ski schools, who know exactly where the perfect powder snow is hiding.
