Hüttschlag is a former mining community and is situated approx. 8 km up the valley from Grossarl at an altitude of 1,020 m. Hüttschlag has been part of the Hohe Tauern National Park since 1991. That is the largest national park in the Alps. The range of hiking facilities on offer in Hüttschlag is unique. Hüttschlag has been a Mountaineering Village since 2008.
These are selected based on strict criteria and are a project by the Austrian Alpine Association within the framework of implementing the International Alpine Convention.
