Ramsau am Dachstein – Family ski area

The perfect place for big and small skiers

Practice ski lifts in the valley, with wide ski runs on gentle hills between 1,100 and 1,300 metres. Ramsau is well laid out, easy to reach, and gloriously surrounded by snow-covered mountains. With its reasonable prices, Ramsau’s winter and ski offer is ideal for families.

From the magic carpet to the chairlift

Learn to ski on the magic carpet and on the drag lift. Drag lifts make it easy for kids to learn to use a ski lift, giving them the confidence to go up the slope independently, without an adult. Like that, kids and beginners prepare to master the ski lifts of the neighbouring larger ski resorts. Ramsau’s largest children’s ski school is close to Rittisberg.

Perfect for the first turns in the snow: Kaliland at the foot of Rittisberg

The Kaliland is a huge playground for the little snow-loving skiers. Here, they learn to ski by playing. The Kalilift, a beginner’s lift, drags the children up the hill with the help of the ever-friendly staff. After a couple of runs, most of the little racers get the hang of it, figuring out quickly how to catch the “banana” bar to be dragged up the hill.

Around the beginner’s slope, there are wonderful distractions: a giant ski-through Kali, a large slide, a warm stone oven, mushroom huts, tipis, and igloos. One huge adventure land. Sometimes, even Kali skis there – just to show what he can do and help the little ones to ski, stop, and turn.

The bambini classes take place Monday to Friday mornings. And on Sundays, from 10.30 am to 12 pm, it’s Hello Day at the bambini land, which invites children and parents to come and try.

And of course, adults trying two planks for the first time have come to the right place, too. The Kaliland slope is very gentle, which makes it easy to learn those first turns – and how to stop – with one of Ski School Ramsau’s qualified ski instructors.

A fabulous snow adventure on Rittisberg!

In summer, Rittisberg’s fairytale trail is a popular hike with kids and families. In winter, that same fairytale trail blossoms into a 3.5 km downhill run. With its many gorgeous fairytale figures and an almost flat slope, even the very smallest skiers can conquer the trail. But even for the older kids, this run is a really fun adventure.
