The ‘Alte Stadl’, the charming ski and alpine hut of the Familienhotel Austria, is located in the middle of the fantastic mountain world of the Schladminger Tauern in Styria right next to our hotel and at the valley station of the Hochwurzen summit lift and is easily accessible by car. Let us spoil you with regional cuisine in the pleasant ambience of the Stadl. Our large garden is located in the center of Altenmarkt and is set up like a park. Our area comprises 3 houses: a wellness house, our country house, the main house with restaurant and a rustic alpine hut in the center.

In the land of Kaiserschmarrn and Wiener Schnitzel, culinary art plays a special role. In the Wachtelhof, guests are served Austrian fusion cuisine that allows them to rediscover childhood memories. Honest and unadulterated dishes are served here using high-quality, fresh ingredients – primarily from the region.

In summer and winter the chef seduces his guests with a multi-course menu. Breakfast and dinner can be taken in the hotel's delicacy restaurant or in the Zirbelstube, a rustic, very private séparée with space for 20-25 guests. The parlor exudes history and cosiness and is suitable for festive occasions.

The highlight at the end of a ski tour on the Hochwurzen. At the small Hochwurzen summit, you can enjoy your summit victory in peace, including the view of the Dachstein, the Enns Valley and the Schladminger Tauern. The perfect photo spot for all summit strikers. For refreshments afterwards, the small Hochwurzen hut is also close by.

The Flying Coaster provides a breathtaking rollercoaster feeling and a high fun factor. From the bottom station of the zipline, a thin tube leads down into the forest at a height of between 3 and 12 metres and is built in the design of a roller coaster with up and down elements. Guests whizz past the ground and trees at speeds of up to 40 km/h down into the valley. The track is around 800 metres long and covers a height difference of over 100 metres. A ride on the Flying Coaster in Gröbming guarantees a pure adrenaline rush.

The Talwirt is located at the end of the Hüttschlag valley and is known for its regional specialties and homemade National Park ice cream. The Talwirt features a spooky Krampus mask exhibition and the "Mountain Forest" National Park exhibition on the first floor.

"Almrausch Planai", the largest OPEN AIR pavilion in the Alps, is directly at the top station of the Planai 6-seater cable car or 300 m below the top station, on the east run on piste no Cosiness ”in the pavilion and on the almost 500 m² terrace. Laughter is healthy ?

Snowshoe trail Dorfgastein between Grossarl and Dorfgastein

Ascent with the new Kieserlbahn to the mountain station at 1,954 metres. Once at the top, the first refreshment stop is the new WOLKE 7 summit restaurant with 360° panoramic terrace. The Snowshoe trail Dorfgastein leads to the Arltörl 1,797 m and on via the Heumoosalm (not serviced) to the middle station of the Fulseck summit lift. Take the cable car back up to the mountain station. Once at the top, the Hauserbauer Gipfelstadl invites you to take a cosy break. Take the winter hiking trail back to the Kieserlbahn mountain station.
