It makes us proud that the Bürglalm is one of the few selected Salzburg ski huts that follows the footsteps of the "Via Culinaria", 8 pleasure trails through the Salzburger Land.

In the "Hut Stool" and "Herb Lovers" categories, we received two commendations. Gabi Bürgler created the "Moar in der Pfoad" as our special Via Culinaria dish with the 2 toque chef Jürgen Vigne from the Pfefferschiff in Söllheim near Salzburg under the title "Gourmet in the snow – the peak of pleasure".

Delicious and honest - these are the two attributes that best describe the culinary offerings of Paularei. Surrounded by a homely feel-good atmosphere with a modern and vintage design can be enjoyed. It’s always open from 7.30 till 02.00 o’clock also on Sundays and public holidays!

A real highlight in the Paularei is the unique concept of space, flexible regions and different heights react to each other in the perfect way and fascinate with gentle contrasts. A special kind of natural landmark. The strange rock formations and the wonderful stalactite and sinter deposits will make this visit an exceptional experience. The cave’s name "Entrische Kirche" (eerie cave) was first mentioned in records in 1428. In the 16th and 18th centuries, the cave served the Lutherans coming to Gastein valley as a secret meeting place. On the occasion of the 500 yr. celebration of Martin Luther, a Protestant memorial in the cave in the “bat dome” was consecrated in 1983 in an ecumenical service. It is unique in its own way and every year in September serves as an atmospheric place for an ecumenical church service.
The cave is also a "place of power". Many visitors can feel the positive earth energies.

The toboggan is one of the oldest pieces of winter sports equipment in the Alps – quite simply, it’s a classic. To this day, it remains a source of infinite enjoyment for young and old alike, with countless natural and man-made runs throughout Salzburg’s many valleys.

Start: Hahnbaumalm Restaurant (altitude approx. 1.100m)
Finish: city center of Sankt Johann (altitude approx. 650m)

Easy access to the start via the Hahnbaum double chair lift. The chair is open until 4pm, later ascents possible by taxi (approx. €35.00 one way for up to 8 pax, tariff will vary according to the meter).

The Starchen Stadl is a place of encounter. A forge of friendship. For you, we really put our backs into it. Our delicious food and beverages come mostly from our own agriculture and hunting. The variety of schnapps is distilled by the senior chef with great skill and in the highest quality. The farmer bread kneads the senior boss with great passion on the farm itself. It is thanks to the creativity of Sepp, the landlord, that the barn with its unmistakable flair shines in new splendor. All carpentry work on the building as well as the loving details in the hut he has realized himself.

The good soul of the house is Kati: she keeps everything and everyone together - because she builds and maintains friendships, personally greets guests and remembers who likes what best. Josef Junior provides the musical highlight with his unusual talent: he plays the accordion while riding the hoverboard. His little brother Johannes accompanies him on the trumpet.

Why are we doing all this?
Because we want you to feel at home with us and have a really good time here. And because tradition, cordiality and hospitality are close to our hearts. We are completely honest about that.
