During the skiing and wine tasting week from March 14 to 21, 2026, we offer our guests at the Waldgasthof some special highlights. 

Experience the perfect day with Freeride Gastein

For more than 10 years we offer our guests an unforgettable skiing experience outside of the marked slopes. Our experience, training and motivation as well as our relentless devotion help to ensure it.

We offer:

• State-certified skiing instructors and guides
• Local guides
• Courses for beginners to professionals
• Perfecting off-piste ski techniques
• Local insider tips - unprepared ski hills
• Ski tours in the Hohe Tauern National Park
• Snow and avalanche training (theory and practice)

Daniel Mairamhof, the innkeeper, has wholeheartedly specialised on local produce and selected wines. Hence, it is for a good reason that the hut 'Krummholzhütte' has become Austria's  '1. Genusshütte' and it has been presented the award "Europe's most popular ski hut 2013 & 2011".

Many celebrity guests come together here, as, for instance, for the event "Schneegenuss mit Haubenkoch Johann Lafer!" (delicacies with top chef Johann Laferl) or for the shooting of Hansi Hinterseer's "Wintertraum in Schladming"!

Every Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., live music with DJs or live bands.
March 14, 2026: Schibiza DJ Set
March 19, 2026: Wine tasting
March 21, 2026: Groovetop with live band
