Hochkönig ski region

The Hochkönig ski region is one of the most diverse winter sports regions in Ski amadé. Between Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach, you can enjoy 120 kilometres of pistes, modern lift facilities and impressive panoramic views of the Hochkönig massif.     Skiing in the Hochkönig ski region

    Perfectly groomed pistes, modern lift facilities and an impressive mountain backdrop define the ski area around Hochkönig. In total, around 120 kilometres of pistes and 34 cable car and lift facilities are available, connecting the three ski areas of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach.

    Wide slopes offer plenty of space for enjoyable carving turns, while sporty runs challenge ambitious skiers. The offer is complemented by fun and adventure areas for varied days on the slopes.

    The Hochkönig ski region connects three varied ski areas. Thanks to the modern lift infrastructure, the mountains are linked in comfort and offer long ski days with a wide range of runs and impressive panoramic views.

    Action on the slopes

    In addition to classic runs, the Hochkönig ski region offers many special attractions.

    The Marlies Schild training slope gives sporty skiers a real challenge. On the Skimovie route in Schöna​nger, you can have your run recorded on a giant slalom course and then watch your personal video afterwards.

    Freestylers will find varied lines in several snowparks. Kings Park in Mühlbach is one of the longest snowparks in Austria and offers a versatile setup for different skill levels. In addition, a Funslope stretching around 850 metres brings fun and variety to the slopes.

    The Königstour – the ski circuit in Hochkönig

    A special highlight of the region is the well-known Königstour. The ski circuit connects 6 peaks and leads across around 35 kilometres of pistes and 7,500 metres of elevation through the entire ski area.

    Along the route, you can enjoy impressive panoramic views, varied descents and several photo points. The Königstour is one of the most beautiful ski circuits in the Alps and a must for sporty skiers.

    Enjoyment moments on the slopes

    At Hochkönig, skiing goes hand in hand with special culinary enjoyment. The culinary Königstours lead from ski hut to ski hut and combine varied descents with regional specialities.

    Whether Heimatliebe, Gipfelgenuss or Almliebe – on these tours, each course is served in a different hut. These culinary ski circuits can be started independently at any time across the entire ski area and turn a day on the slopes into a delightful experience.

    Events & experiences

    The Hochkönig region also offers varied winter days away from the slopes. Numerous events combine winter sports, cuisine and music into special holiday experiences.

    Highlights include events such as the Alpine Craft Festival, Gondel.Alm.Genuss or the traditional Skihüttenroas. These events make winter at Hochkönig an experience with a special atmosphere – true to the motto: so much to experience at the summit of feelings.

    Winter experiences away from the slopes

    Away from the ski slopes too, the Hochkönig region offers a wide range of winter experiences. Around 40 kilometres of prepared cross-country ski trails lead through the snowy landscape around the Hochkönig massif.

    In addition, winter hiking trails, toboggan runs and ski touring routes invite you to discover the winter mountain world from a different perspective. Horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snowy landscape are especially atmospheric.
